Magnetic Island
18.09.2006
We got off the greyhound at Townsville, we obviously looked lost and unsure what to do because a random guy approached us and suggested we hop on the ferry to Magnetic Island which he guaranteed, was the best place to stay and worth visiting. Magnetic Island was a 25 min ferry ride away. So we booked it and off we went. He wasn't wrong this island was gorgeous; I have never experienced a small and secluded Island. It was very peaceful and we chose a hostel on the beach front. It was like a holiday resort. We had a nice little bungalow room. Perhaps one of the mistakes we were making was not booking a mixed dorm with other people to get to know them better. It does help alot that’s what I found from traveling with Kat later. Base Hostel has full moon parties every last Friday of the month. Whilst Andrew and I were there this was not on, however I did return with Kat later and it was a great laugh.
We hired little mote cars and I thought they were awesome. I drove around the Island as you had to be 21, it was so much fun. We stopped at the different bays. Basically this is the place to go and relax. With four or five different bays/beaches it’s just gorgeous to lay on a beach and be on your own or with only a few others around. I said when I left id like to return and I did.
